Doctor's Ayurvedic Advice:-

It is common to see the symptoms of Asthma more in the night which is called Nocturnal Asthma. The exact cause is not mentioned and there is no specific treatment mentioned for nocturnal symptoms, you have to control Asthma with the general medicines and breathing exercises.

The possibilities to increase the symptoms at night include excessive allergic exposure like pollens during the day. Generally there will be an immediate reaction and there will be late phase response which will occur after 8hours, harmonal variations in the night where epinephrine or the peak expiratory flow will be very low around 4am due to the circadian pattern and also the recling position which makes it difficult to sleep. Other conditions like excessive cooling, use of air conditioners, GERD are also considered as triggers.

Medicines like Divya Swasari Kwath, Asthomap Tablets for Asthma and Dasamoola Rasayanam - 1/4tsp thrice daily after food can be taken for a month and then reviewed. Apply warm Karpooradi thailam or salt bags to the chest which will help to melt the phlegm.

Include garlic, ginger, tulsi, turmeric, pepper, honey and warm soups. Avoid deep fried foods, excessive salt and sugar. Try to control your weight. Try to avoid constipation. Yogasanas like Padmasana, Matsyasana, Dhanurasana, Ustrasana, Bhujangasana are beneficial. Pranayamam like anuloma viloma can be started to improve the lung function.

Hello, Asthma is a very common condition which many people today face. In people who are prone to Asthma the inhalation of dust particles, allergens, pollen grains from different trees and also the air pollution causes the condition of Asthma. The medicines which will be helpful are Dasamoola Katurthrayam Kashsya -Take 30ml of this with warm water two times before food. Along with this take 2 tablets of Swasanandam capsule daily two times before food. Take 1 spoon of Vyokshadi vatakam occasionally. Take 1 spoon of Dasamoola Rasayana morning and evening after food. Avoid cold items like Ice creams, cool drinks etc. Do not take milk, curd, sweets, potato etc. Avoid going near Allergy causing factors, smoking, exposing to sunlight, cold exposure and doing head bath. Drink boiled water. Put Dasamoola choornam and boil water with it and drink that water occasionally in tolerable heat. Pranayama and breathing exercise can be beneficial. Avoid doing hard and stressful job and walking for long distance should be also avoided.

Almost all doctors of different medical stream advise their asthma patients to undergo yoga. It is seen that the breathing exercise under the name pranayama is seen to be of great benefit to the patients. It is seen the improve the lung capacity and overall functioning of lung. It is also found to relax the muscles of bronchioles which enhances its dilatation thereby enabling easy breathing. This technique can be practised from an experienced yoga master or a naturopathist. Research works has found that this practice has considerably decreased the use of inhalers in patients as well.

There are several other yoga poses available such as tadasana, pavanamuktasana , savasana and sukhasana. All these are seen helpful in improving the quality of lungs. However pranayama is the prime factor which has ultimate result on lung.

In asthma one has to carefully observe the trigger factors which are seen responsible for causing attacks. In such cases one should try to avaoid those factors and gain tolerance against such allergens with pranayama or ayurvedic medicines available.

Hello Sir, Sir Mujhe lagbhag 10 sal se balgam ki problam hai maine notice kiya haiki gami ke dino me jyada balgam nikalta hai elke alawa 12 pure month always hame balagm nikalta rahta hai jiske karan mai bahut pareshan hu 1 dil me lagbhag 50 bar balgam nikalta hai ajib se smail bhi aata hai eska koi ayurvedic ilaj hai kya ? thand ke dino me kuch kam balgam nikalta hai par garmi ke dino me jyada jiske karan mere muuth ka test ajib sa lagta hai so plese sir eska koi to elaj hoga?

Anuloma Viloma Pranayama plays important role in prevention and cure of Asthma or any respiratory disease. Anuloma viloma involves controlled breathing which provides pure oxygen to lungs. It can be practiced daily in the morning or in evening as per comfort. Do it slowly to start with and later increase the duration and force of inhaling and exhaling. Disease of breath can be cured by exercise of breathing only.

Pranayama for asthma

Place both the palms on the stomach and take deep breaths, leave the breath slowly. Place both the hands on the waist and take deep breath and exhale slowly.

Matsyasana for asthma

This asana should be practiced bylying on the back.

• Sit in Padmasana position, place the wrist and elbows on the floor and bend the head down. • Hold both the thumbs of the legs with both the hands. • With the help of the elbows move the head from the neck and place it on the floor. The back is bent in the shape of a bow. • Keep a check on the breathing process and come back to the original position. One can get relief from backache, low back pain, and neck pain. When the pressure is given to stomach the fat in this region get dissolved. The nerves in the neck, stomach, and chest are strengthened. Diabetes, asthma, lungs and breathing problem are cured.

Bhastrika for asthma

• Sit in the Padmasana position, and place the hands on the knees. • Inhale and exhale quickly. Asthma, bad dreams, breathing problem, weakness and breath lessness can be cured with this asana. The blood can be purified and gives peace of mind, helps in digestion.

Bhujangasana for asthma

• Lie down on the stomach, keep the legs together. Place the chin on the floor, keep both the hands near the chest. • Breathe normally, lift the neck upwards gradually. Slowly lift the stomach till the navel region. • Bend the neck back and look upwards. • Come back to the normal position slowly. • The asthma patients should keep following things in mind • They should always maintain hygiene. • Should practice normal exercises. • Should take care of their health. • Should play musical instruments or should practice light games.

Yoga for asthma

Bronchial asthma is a respiratory complaint where the upper and lower respiratory tract involvement is present.

In order to prevent respiratory infections and to gain immunity power, one can practice yoga and pranayama regularly.

There are many yoga poses which help to maintain maximum expectancy of lungs and its function. These are the postures which help to gain proper strength to the lungs and covering layers.

The asanas like Ekpada Uttansana, simhasana, sarvangasana, tadasana, mastyasana, yoga mudra. Pranayama like Ujjaini pranayama, anuloma-viloma pranayama are very helpful.

These poses are very helpful to maintain proper lung functioning and helps to regularize breathing pattern.

If there is no associated complaints and history of recent surgeries, one can practice these poses regularly to attain stability of the lungs and its functioning.

It is believed that even lung cancer, fibrosis in initial stages is also managed with yoga and pranayama.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is also well managed with yoga and pranayama in initial stages.

It is noted that, one has to continue medicines regularly if indicated from time to time along with yoga.

Another benefit from yoga and pranayama is that to maintain patency of lungs, in turn it give overall stamina to the cellular level.
